Our History and Legacy

1973 - The MVP-10 was the first ventilator developed by Bio-Med Devices.

1985 - Dean Bennett, Jr. acquired the company after being an independent sales representative.  After the acquisition, Dean involved his entire family.  His wife Doris was the comptroller, and his son Dean Bennett III was the head of marketing and sales for the U.S.  Dean was proud to treat every employee of Bio-Med Devices as a part of a growing family.

1986 – Bio-Med Devices expanded globally.  During this era, Dean Bennett III (pictured to the left) increased both domestic and international sales, enhancing the foot print of Bio-Med Devices within the medical device industry.

1991 – Bio-Med Devices experienced a 60% year over year growth.

1995 – Bio-Med Devices released the Crossvent.  This was the first ventilator of its kind, providing triggers, alarms and touch screen capabilities in a compact body design.  The Crossvent became the standard for transport ventilators around the world.

1998 - Dean Bennett III took over as president.  During this era Bio-Med Devices released multiple versions of the Crossvent, culminating in a broad spectrum of transport ventilators for infants to adults.  This portfolio of products continued to grow with the launch of air/oxygen blenders overseas.

2020 - In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production of ventilators ramped up to fulfill the growing need of ventilators globally.  The TV-100 ventilator, which can cater to any patient from infant to adult, was the ideal product for hospitals during the pandemic.  It has been used for transport as well as critically ill patients within the ICU.  Bio-Med Devices has also worked jointly with local and state governments, helping supply ventilators to hospitals in numerous healthcare systems.  The Bio-Med family feels fortunate to be part of the solution to help eradicate COVID-19.

2023 - In February of 2023 the Connecticut Shoreline Chamber of Commerce along with the office of Senator Richard Blumenthal and Govenor Ned Lamont, honored Bio-Med Devices with two awards. We are very proud to be acknowledged for 50 years of business and innovation in our field. Thank you to all the valuable employees who have made our company what it is today.

“We are BIO-MED Devices. Our team has engineered quality medical devices for more than 50 years. From ambulances to the ICU space, our devices are there to treat the most vulnerable of your patients”.
